50 years of innovation in the shower area

It was in the spring of 1974 when the then technical manager Friedo Jäger installed a shower cubicle in a guest room for the first time. At that time, shower cubicles were still exotic in the bathroom - the basic equipment consisted of a bathtub. During the laborious installation process, he was annoyed by the time-consuming and complicated installation. Just a short time later, the first prototype of the Artweger shower cubicle stood in the halls of the Bad Ischl-based company. Walter Artweger and Friedo Jäger immediately recognized the potential of this new type of product and started production of the first shower enclosure series with a great deal of pioneering spirit.
In 1975, the Adria shower enclosure series conquered the market. This model set standards: with an innovative round sliding door - which was immediately patented - it not only offered a significantly wider entrance, but also made installation considerably easier. A clear statement that laid the foundation for future developments.
The Adria already set the direction that Artweger has consistently pursued ever since - making people's lives easier.
Their great success inspired the company to focus on the bathroom - far beyond the range of household goods and tumble dryers at the time.
Over the years, the Bad Ischl-based company provided significant impetus on the shower market - whether with the Adriette (1980), a self-sufficient complete cubicle (1982), the Venezia (1988) and the Woodline (1998), a shower made entirely of wood. As early as 1998, the company began collaborating with industrial designers to further develop the form and function of its products.
Another highlight was the Body & Soul (1999), a modern multifunctional shower. Artweger broke new ground in 2003 with the Cityline Top series, the first shower series with hinges glued to the outside of the glass, which is still Artweger's bestseller on the market today.

Today more than ever, Artweger is setting the pace in the industry. With ground-breaking developments such as the 360° pendulum hinge, the JOICE Walk In + - a barrier-free walk-in with bathing function - or the new Artweger PRESTIGE shower series, the only shower series with design by Studio F. A. Porsche, the Bad Ischl-based creative company continues to surprise the market. Numerous patents and awards impressively underline the brand's innovative strength.
A particular highlight: on the 50th anniversary of the first Artweger shower, the Artweger PRESTIGE series was awarded the elite Red Dot: Best of the Best - one of the world's most prestigious design awards.
All new products are still based on the same premise that Artweger used to design its first shower series: to make people's lives easier.
